South East Warden Achievement Awards

NTRC

Recognising outstanding contributions by Wardens to improving the quality of life for local people and communities in the South East.

We are very happy to announce that we will be running our regional conference on the 16th and 17th March 2009 - details of which are to follow very shortly.

Once again we want to celebrate the real benefits that wardens, with their varied skills and talents, are delivering in their own neighbourhoods by holding Regional Achievement Awards. The categories are as follows

Working with Young People

Working with Vulnerable People

South East Warden Team of the Year

Best Example of Partnership Working

Outstanding Achievement

We are very proud of the fantastic work that wardens do across the region and shout about their successes at any given opportunity. This is your chance to celebrate your successes in style by nominating individual (s) and/or your scheme in ALL of the above categories if you wish.

We really do encourage all schemes to make at least one nomination so don't be shy! As a Manager you may also want to circulate this email as some may wish to nominate YOU!

What a fantastic opportunity to boost morale within your team. Here's just a couple of quotes from our previous award winners...

"Winning the award was the highlight for me and the community in which I work for - an issue that can often be forgotten. This has led to a tremendous feeling of belonging to a community which is worth all the effort and hard work as well as the cups of tea and cake." Garry Jones

" It was fantastic to get recognition for the hard work we all do but most of all this award was a brilliant achievement not just for me but for all the young people who work so hard making their community a better place to live. Local publicity about the award also encouraged more young people to join the Youth Warden scheme which was superb." Katherine Murray

"Last time, Guildford won two awards and we were able to publicise this success both internally to our partners and externally to our communities. This positive promotion was noted by councillors and senior officers and since then, we have managed to grow our scheme through the recruiting of an additional rural warden. I would therefore encourage all schemes to consider submitting nominations for the awards." Rodney Bates

"It was a real morale boost and gave all the Wardens great pride that their hard work had been recognised. It has improved our partnership working by increasing our creditability as a scheme, and has been a great publicity tool to show our achievements within the City of Portsmouth, and throughout the region. Winning these awards lets everyone know what a valuable service the Community Wardens are." Cathy Bennett

"There is never enough positive publicity so this was well received by many and more importantly great recognition for the local area and those having believed a Youth:Café style facility would work (many believed it would not). " Tracey James

Remember you can submit entries for all categories but we limit one application per category per scheme. All entries must be received by 24th February 2009. Entries after this date will not be considered.

For a nomination pack please email ntrc@portsmouthcc.gov.uk or call 023 9275 2002.

So what are you waiting for...............

Look forward to receiving your entries and seeing you in March.

Good Luck
